Description : 22nd January, 2017: A colourful and spectacular Ceremony of Graduation and Lamp Lighting was held at the Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing here today. Most Rev. Dr. Raphy Manjaly, Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad, presided over the function. Hon’ble Mr. Vipin Mishra, Joint Secretary Lok Sewa Ayog, Allahabad was the Guest of Honour. The programme began with a Prayer Dance by the students of the Nursing School. The prayerful atmosphere truly uplifted the spirits of everyone present in the School premises. Rev. Fr. Reginald D’Souza, Director of the Hospital, then extended a warm and cordial welcome to our President, Guest of Honour and all the dignitaries present. He had high words of appreciation for the dignitaries present. This was followed by the Lamp Lighting ceremony. Most Rev. Dr. Raphy Manjaly, Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad & Hon’ble Mr. Vipin Mishra lit the lamps, symbolic of the light carried by the first nurse, Florence Nightingale. The Bishop of Allahabad Diocese, Most Rev. Raphy Manjaly blessed the caps. Rev. Sr. Genesia, CSN, Provincial Superior capped the students of the 27th batch and gave away the lamps to the students. This was the 23rd Graduation Ceremony in the glorious history of the Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing in which the nursing staff were awarded graduation certificates too. Giving this information Rev. Fr. Reginald D’Souza, Director of Nazareth Hospital, said that the Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing has completed its 26 years of its existence & it has secured many State level ranks ever since its inception in 1990. The high standards of quality were also evident on the stage performance by the nursing students on this auspicious occasion. Rev. Sr. Eugene, CSN, the Principal of the Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing exhorted the students to emulate Florence Nightingale in her noble qualities of Love, Compassion and Sacrifice for the welfare of the ailing millions. In his address Hon’ble Mr. Vipin Mishra lauded the selfless service of the Nazareth Hospital to the citizens of Allahabad and its neighbouring districts. He particularly applauded the Nazareth Hospital Administration for its efforts in maintaining a high standards of Nursing Care and making treatment affordable for the poor in the hospital. The President of the function & Chairman of the Hospital Most Rev. Raphy Manjaly congratulated all the graduates and the beginners for opting to serve the sick and the suffering. Bishop appreciated each and every Nurse in Nazareth Hospital for the compassionate care they show to every patient who enters the portals of this hospital. He said that Nazareth Hospital is known for its nursing care from the time of its inception. He also exhorted the nurses to keep the light burning and to carry forward the legacy. The students also entertained the audience gathered through the variety entertainment programme. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.
