Dialysis Unit: Lifeline for Kidney Health
The Dialysis Unit serves as a crucial lifeline for individuals facing kidney failure, offering a
specialized and vital form of medical intervention. This unit is dedicated to the provision of dialysis,
a process that replicates the kidney's essential function of removing waste products and excess fluid
from the blood.
The Dialysis Unit at Nazareth Hospital is a dedicated space where compassionate care meets advanced technology
to support patients on their journey to kidney health. Nestled in the heart of Prayagraj, our Dialysis Unit
is committed to delivering excellence in renal care with a focus on the well-being of our community
Significance of Dialysis Units:
Dialysis Units play a pivotal role in managing patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage
renal disease (ESRD). As kidneys lose their ability to filter and excrete waste and excess fluids,
dialysis becomes a lifeline, providing a means to artificially perform these vital functions.
Operations and Procedures:
- Haemodialysis: This common form of dialysis involves the use of a
hemodialyzer or "artificial kidney" machine. Blood is circulated outside the body, passing through
the machine, where it is filtered and cleansed before being returned to the patient.
- Peritoneal Dialysis: In this method, a special solution is
introduced into the abdominal cavity through a catheter. The peritoneum, a membrane lining the abdominal
wall, acts as a natural filter, allowing waste and excess fluid to be drawn out and discarded.
- Patient-Centered Care: Dialysis Units prioritize patient well-being and
comfort, recognizing the impact of regular dialysis sessions on the lives of individuals. Patient care
in these units extends beyond the technical aspects of dialysis to encompass:
- Individualized Treatment Plans: Dialysis units tailor treatment
plans to the unique needs of each patient, accounting for factors such as age, comorbidities, and
lifestyle.
- Emotional Support: Recognizing the challenges of living with kidney
disease, Dialysis Units provide emotional support and counseling to help patients and their families
navigate the physical and emotional aspects of their journey.
- Experienced Renal Care Team: Our Dialysis Unit is staffed by an
experienced team of nephrologists, dialysis technicians, and healthcare professionals who are dedicated
to the well-being of patients. With a wealth of expertise in renal care, our team ensures that every
patient receives individualized attention and comprehensive support throughout their dialysis
journey.
- Education and Empowerment: Patients are educated about their condition,
the importance of adhering to dietary restrictions, and self-care practices. This empowerment is vital
for individuals to actively participate in managing their health.
