World Blood Donor Day Celebrated at Nazareth
World Blood Donor Day was celebrated on 15th June 2024 at Nazareth Hospital. It aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and educate attendees on various aspects related to blood donation and its critical role in healthcare. The key speaker was Dr. Ashok Agarwal (Medical Superintendent, Nazareth Hospital) who educated the gathering on blood donation and blood transfusion.
The event began at 12:30 PM in the Nazareth Hospital Auditorium, organized by Fr. Vipin D'Souza, Director of Nazareth Hospital.
Dr. Ashok Agarwal led the awareness program, providing extensive information on the significance of blood donation, the process, and its impact on saving lives. He addressed common myths and misconceptions about blood donation, highlighted the safety measures in place, and emphasized the need for regular and voluntary donations to ensure a steady blood supply.
He also enlightened the audience concerning the need for blood transfusion, the details to be given regarding the blood collection, the precautions to be taken before blood transfusion, and the post care after the blood transfusion.
Dr. Agarwal’s presentation was well-received, as it was informative and engaging, helping to enlighten both medical and non-medical staff about the critical need for blood donations and the lifesaving role donors play in healthcare systems worldwide.
